More than entertainment and aesthetics, art practice develops a child’s imagination, problem-solving skills and emotional expression. Just as a picture is worth a thousand words, creating art gives breath to concepts that accessible language cannot always describe. Unfortunately, in many schools practical art activities beyond drawing have been eroded from formal primary education.
By the time our children have a chance to take art in secondary school or pursue their natural passion at university, they’ve lost years of potential growth and have passed the most creative windows in our development. Kidz Artworx in Sydney’s Burwood offers high-quality, multi-medium small art classes to Homebush students after school, on the weekend and during school holidays.
Personalised Instruction in Small Art Classes for Homebush Students
Online tutorials on YouTube are great, but don’t match the one-on-one instruction and encouragement of a professional art tutor. Homebush families can now nurture and support their children’s artistic talents and aspirations at our state-of-the-art campus where all art materials are provided.
Kidz Artworx courses are designed by our qualified Visual Arts Teacher who has more than 25-years’ experience enriching young artists. Lead by her advanced skill in a wide range of mediums, our team can provide personalised attention and instruction to each student. Students are always supervised and are encouraged to experiment with new mediums and/or techniques throughout the course of their instruction.
Our program is mainly practical artmaking, with specific step by step instructions for techniques utilising art language and a little art theory & history. Students learn and develop skills in a friendly, pro-social, supportive environment where exploration is inspired by peers, instruction and established artists. We have drawing only classes and multi-media classes (including a range of art forms) available which provide opportunities to discover new techniques and mediums and develop them. Art forms explored include drawing, painting, printing, collage, sculpture, ceramics, photography, design and installations.
Weekly art classes for Homebush students are available for children aged 4+ and terms are 8 weeks long. Afterschool classes begin at 4pm allowing ample travel and snack time. We’ve just added two daytime Monday timeslots for home-schooled artists.
Browse our schedule of classes for information about themes, skill level and mediums used. All classes are 1.5 hours and we also offer 5 timeslots on Saturdays. Class size is limited to 10 students to maximise personalised instruction; Cheeky Monkeys, our preschool class, is limited to 6 students. Cheeky Monkeys meets on Monday mornings at 10am and carers are typically required to stay onsite.
